Bio

Kay E. Gage is a 20 year educator in the Jennings School District where she is currently employed as a school counselor.  She began her teaching career in the St. Louis Public Schools.  Mrs. Gage has used her passion  to enhance learning and provide enrichment opportunities for students inJenningsthrough collaboration and partnership with community stakeholders.  For many years she invited professionals throughout the city to share their experiences at annual Career Days.  She has organized Black History Month oratorical contests for students, which have exposed Fine Arts professionals to the talents of students in the district.  She has developed and nurtured relationships between the Jennings community and organizations and companies such as AT&T Pioneers, First Bank, Vision Management Group, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, William C. Harris Funeral Directors and Cremation Services, Fundisha Enterprises, and her revered sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

 

Mrs. Gage has served in other capacities within Jennings.  She served as Honorary Chairman for the Jennings Back to School Jamboree after three years as chairman; and is the District Liaison for the Kids Voting Missouri program.  She worked as the Site Coordinator for the 21st Century Stars & Heroes program, which afforded students opportunities to travel to both Kansas City and Memphis and exposed them to various cultural experiences. She worked to implement a uniform dress policy at Fairview Elementary School, which eventually led to district wide implementation.  Mrs. Gage also served as a Professional Development Committee representative where she pushed for inclusion of counseling and social work staff development opportunities.  She has been a member of the Missouri School Counselor Association (MSCA), the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), National Education Association (NEA) and was listed in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers®.
